Luxury jeweler Bulgari is celebrating 125 years as one of the world’s most sought-after jewelry brands.
A “Roman Holiday” atmosphere permeated Wednesday night as 1,400 guests and celebrities flocked to Bulgari’s 125th anniversary festivities for the opening of the Bulgari: Between History and Eternity 1884-2009 retrospective at the Il Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. The opening gala has unveiled approximatgely 500 works of jewelry and objets d’art, most of which belong to Bulgari’s Historical Archives while several have been lent by private collectors. Sketches, drawings and photographs will round out the exhibition, which will fill 8 galleries. It is curaetd by Amanda Triossi, the director of the Bulgari Historical Archives since 1997, and will be open to the public from May 22 to September 13, 2009.
To commemorate the occasion, Bulgari is teaming up with an unusual partner: the Poste Italiane, or Italy’s postal service.
Worth 0,60 euros, the special edition Bvlgari stamp shows the image of a dazzling necklace from 1965 made from yellow gold and platinum and heavily adorned with amethysts, emeralds and turquoises. 3,5 million stamps will be issued and each stamp is accompanied by an article (detailing the brand’s history) signed by Paolo Bulgari, Bvlgari Group’s chairman.bvlgari-stamp-468x382
