The show took place in Venice, which provided a magical, charming background to the collection. The aim of the show was to pay tribute to the city that influenced Coco Chanel a whole decade.
Venice’s Lido, the beach at Hotel Excelsior, was the location they chose for the show. And the invitation featured a painting showing Coco at Lido.
The collection is full of inspirations, particularly the Italian nautical look from the 30s and the legendary gondolero suits, with black and white stripes and touches of red and blue. The elegance of Venice’s high society in the 30s is obvious in the colour palette, in the garments and even in the models. The light-dark technique, fortuny prints and renaissance reds make this Chanel cruise collection yet another Lagerfeld masterpiece.
